Trash Trek Hernando is dedicated to keeping our community trash and debris free. It was born out of frustration of watching a place I have called my home, for my entire life, become something I did not recognize anymore.
It's simple. Pick a day and time each week to clean up your neighborhood, carry a trash receptacle (for example a trash bag or bucket), a mechanical grabber, rubber gloves, and help clean up our community. Make a photo of the trash you have collected and tell us about it in our Facebook Group. I'll organize quarterly gatherings and we can share stories at one of our local establishments.

Bulk Waste Disposal
One can drive along any number of roadways here in Hernando County, Florida and find discarded recliners, televisions, and couches. The vendor for trash removal in Hernando County is Republic Services. Republic Services offers its customers bulk waste removal four times per year without additional costs. As a customer of Republic Services all one needs to do is schedule the removal, place the bulk waste at the end of their driveway on the scheduled date and Republic Services will remove it sometime during that day by sending a specific truck just for. your trash.

Hernando County Code Enforcement
Hernando County Code Enforcement handles those instances where a homeowner has placed bulk waste at the end of their driveway but not called Republic Services to schedule a removal date.
Hernando County Department of Public Works
If you see bulk waste that has been discarded along our county right of ways, you can contact the Hernando County Department of Public Works using their online service request form. It’s extremely easy to use and the right of way inspectors are extremely professional and attentive to ensuring the waste is cleared in a timely fashion.
Hernando County Solid Waste and Recycling
Hernando County offers landfill locations across the county known as “Transfer Stations”. When attempting to dispose of other types of waste, please check the Solid Waste and Recycling Services website for what can be disposed of within the transfer stations. You will find some items might have to be taken to the main landfill on U.S. 98 North and there may be a cost associated with those items.
